Levels

Description

Soul Sacrifice features a leveling system, but it differs slightly from a tradition RPG. Instead of a single character level, a character's level is split into two, life and magic levels. Upon defeating an archfiend or foul creature the player has the choice to save or sacrifice the monster. Saving a monster will increase the player's life level while sacrificing a monster will increase the player's magic level. The max level is a combined magic and life level of 100. Because both life and magic contribute to the max level, the player must decide whether they want a higher chaos level but in return a lower divine level, or vice versa.

Upon reaching either a magic or life level of 90 the player will transform into chaos mode or holy mode respectively. Upon reach either a magic or life level of 99 he player will transform into chaos/holy mode level 2. 

Level Icon

The level indicator is found in the top left corner of the screen during gameplay. The blue Lv number on the left side shows the current Life level and the Lv number on the right shows the current Magic level. The bars on the outside of the circle show how much more XP is needed to reach the next level for either magic or life. Finally, the circle in the middle shows the ratio of life level to magic level.
